TimeTabler : Scheduling Software for Schools

TimeTabler is a fast and reliable scheduling Program, used by schools in over 90 countries around the world to schedule their timetables.  It comes with full Help & Support, including a free Support Centre, HelpMovies, and Knowledge Base.

What types of school use TimeTabler for their scheduling ?

TimeTabler is used by many hundreds of schools in more than 90 countries.  It is extremely versatile, and able to cope with the differing demands and individual needs of schools; for example, part-time teachers, staggered breaktimes, and split sites.
It is successfully used by (British-style) Secondary schools, Prep schools, Colleges; International schools, IB schools, and other institutions.

TimeTabler is primarily designed for scheduling a British-style timetable.  It is generally not suited to North American-style scheduling, in which the schedule is typically structured around ‘blocks’ or ‘units’.
See the more detailed information below if you are unsure if your school follows a British- or American-style schedule.

To see some of the many schools and countries that have successfully used our Program for their scheduling, read our testimonials from International Users.

British vs North American-style Scheduling

North American-style schools usually use ‘blocks’, which are each of a fixed number of teaching periods.  The blocks are usually scheduled in a fixed sequence, such as ‘A, B, C, D’.  Extra groups (sometimes called ‘sections’), or staff, are often added to, or deducted from, the blocks during scheduling to achieve a solution.
Students then select lessons from each of the blocks, constructing a schedule that allows them to follow their required curriculum.

British-style schools tend to have blocks, too, but also usually have individual (‘pure-class’) groups that can slide against each other and are not bound to blocks.  Both blocks and pure-class groups may have any (variable) number of periods.  None of them is bound to a fixed rota; blocks and any groups not bound into a block can float to any time-slot providing the result gives lessons with a good rhythm through the timetable cycle.  TimeTabler works in symbiosis with Users to achieve this rhythm across the schedule.

We recommend that you try our Tutorial version, to see if the way TimeTabler works fits your school and schedule.

Our other Programs :

Our other Programs include :

Options …which is carefully designed to help you with the task of organising your students’ Options (also known as ‘choices’ or ‘electives’).  It finds the best pattern to satisfy all your students.

Options
is sometimes used by North American-style schools, even if they don’t use TimeTabler, because it can save their time and help their students to select their Electives and assign them to the best blocks.
Options also comes with our online TOOLS system – to help schools to collect their students’ choices over the internet.

StaffCover …which helps you to organise Cover for your absent staff in a fair and efficient way.
