About Us …

The name of our company is October ReSolutions Limited, but we are better known in schools by the name of our hugely successful main product: TimeTabler.

We’ve spent the past 40 years dedicating ourselves to supporting school timetablers in the UK and around the world, and we have been supplying timetabling software to schools since 1978 (!) when Keith Johnson first wrote some simple timetabling programs.  In the decades since then, the program has been continuously developed and improved by Keith and Chris Johnson and the TimeTabler Team.   Thousands of school timetablers have contributed to our Wish-List and made TimeTabler the system it is.  No other timetabling software in the world has such a long pedigree.

We are proud of our reputation, our experience and our ability to offer support and solutions to timetablers around the world.

We are also the authors of the standard ‘bible‘ on Timetabling: ‘The Timetabler’s CookBook‘, which has now helped thousands of beginners to learn the Art of Timetabling, and hundreds of more experienced timetablers to understand the Art in even more depth.

Here’s a little more detail about us, and our work …

— Our Aim:  Here at TimeTabler, our aim is to help school timetablers through what, without the right tools and support to hand, can be a difficult and stressful experience; creating a (quality) school timetable !

We do this by providing 3 software programs that assist the task: TimeTabler, Options and StaffCover … and by offering a wide range of help and support to back-up these programs.  We provide this support in 12 different ways.

We aim to provide:

TimeTabler Scheduling Software for Schools on a laptop

  • The best timetabling software, updated regularly to meet the very latest needs of school timetablers
  • The best support, provided in many different ways, at different levels – so every timetabler has access to help & support relevant to them
  • Software that improves the timetable for both your Students and Staff, so they can learn and teach in the best possible environment, via a Quality timetable
  • Link to & partner with all the key MIS / Admin Systems used by our schools in the UK and around the World, so you can transfer your completed timetable to your MIS.

— How our software is written:  TimeTabler  has been in continuous development for over 40 years, responding to changing curricular demands and the latest needs & trends in timetabling.  The way we do this is by encouraging our Users to add their suggestions to our Wish-List.   Everything in TimeTabler  is tested in real schools with different curricula, to make sure it works well in practice.

We run similar WishLists for Options and StaffCover … so that all our software is developed by the ideas of real teachers, working in real schools.

— Who are our customers ?:  TimeTabler and our related software is used by over 2,500 schools in the UK and in 93 countries across the world.    The fact that we are Teachers & Timetablers as well as Developers means that we provide software that schools want and need.

Our active and daily involvement in timetabling means that TimeTabler is a state-of-the-art solution to any timetabling problem you may face.    We are fortunate in that as well as our own Team, we have a range of Timetabling Associates who can offer superb support not only for our software, but for all aspects of timetabling … from an introduction to using TimeTabler through to workshops, webinars, and even writing your timetable for you !

Science Class speaking with a Cover TeacherSome facts about us:

  • 1700+ Schools use TimeTabler
  • 90+ Countries use our software
  • 40+ Years of continuous development
  • Under 2 Hours: The average resolve time from our Support Centre Experts, for a timetabling question.

— Our History:   many years ago, TimeTabler  was the first timetabling program to run on a microcomputer; and has been in continuous development ever since, to face the changing challenges of creating a quality school timetable.   It is used by more schools today than ever before.

Our Team are widely acknowledged as the UK experts on timetabling and we wrote the timetabling ‘bible’ :  ‘Timetabling – A Timetabler’s CookBook‘ (ISBN 978-09561161-0-9)  which is used by thousands of timetablers around the world.

We’re proud to say that we have more experience of timetabling than anyone else in the UK.

We hope this gives you an idea of who we are, and the support we can offer – but if you have any questions, just let us know.

This shows the Main Menu, and Step 1 : the Basic Data screen, with five big buttons.

Each button leads you to an entry screen.

To enter your data you would start at the left, and work your way across to the right.

Look how straightforward it is, compared to other programs !

And the fully-illustrated printed Manual explains each step, in detail.

Subjects Screen

subjects screen

This is the screen for saying which Subjects you will want to timetable.

You can return here at any time to edit / alter your data.

You can give each Subject a colour – this helps during scheduling, and for the printouts.

Visual Builder Screen

This is the main screen on which you do the actual scheduling.
You can sit at this Visual Builder Screen and drag-and-drop to ‘drive’ through the timetable.

At first sight it looks very complicated.  To see what each part will do for you, please click on: www.timetabler.com/kb/UsingtheVisualBuilderScreen.pdf

All the buttons, and the symbols, are explained when you click on the button.

The Printout Menu

This shows you some of the possibilities for the Printouts.

Within each of these, there are millions of ways of fine-tuning the exact design of the Printouts.

They can be printed on paper, or produced as web-pages, at the click of a button.

A professional result.
