New Physics for You
Teacher Support- ‘Just Click’ CD Rom

This CD contained over 1000 resources to help your teaching.  Over 1000 !  More details below.
PowerPoints, Spreadsheets, Images, Animations, Interactives galore!
It is no longer ‘in print’ but if you can find a copy you will find it very useful.

And it came with a printed Pack of over 400 photocopiable sheets for you to use with your students.
The Pack is no longer in print, but many of these printed resources are now available from www.physicsforyou.co.uk.
Make your life easier!

The New Physics for You (2006) CD-ROM had many more resources than before, and had a new friendly structure.
You could select and use the resources in any of 4 ways (see below), depending on which is the most useful to you.
1. AQA order
The ICT resources (see below) appeared for whichever AQA Topic you choose.
Every AQA Topic, for Core Science, for Additional Science and for full GCSE Physics was listed at just a click of your mouse, with a wide range of relevant ICT resources displayed and ready for you to use at a click.
2. Edexcel order
If you chose this option on the CD then resources were listed for each Edexcel Topic, ready for you to use when teaching that Topic.
3. OCR order
If you chose this option on the CD then resources were displayed for each OCR ‘Gateway’ Topic, ready for you to use when teaching that Topic.
4. Book Chapter order
The ICT resources appeared for each Chapter of the Book, ready for immediate use with your class.
As well as the specifications shown above, the book covers other syllabuses, including the WJEC, NI-CCEA, and IGCSE syllabuses.
You could move between these 4 parts whenever you wish.

The resources can be used in LessonLoader.

A typical ‘ResourceFinder’ screen is shown below, for AQA :

What kinds of ICT Resources were there on the CD?

1) Help with Misconceptions
Key concepts were tackled with Flash animations, Simulations, Interactives, PhotoPlus files, and animated PowerPoints for you to use at the click of your mouse.
These help you to focus and clarify topics where students often have misconceptions.
2) Materials from the printed Teacher Support Pack
All the revised Student Maps, Checklists, Revision Quizzes, the Technician Cards, all the Help Sheets and Extension Sheets from the printed Teacher Support Pack were on this CD …and they were editable.  If you wished you could tailor any of these sheets (in MS Word) to your needs.

The latest versions of some of these sheets can be freely downloaded from www.physicsforyou.co.uk

3) Learning Objectives, and Plenaries
For each topic there were PowerPoints of Learning Objectives (revealed one click at a time) and Plenary questions, to focus your teaching.
Each Exam Topic (for AQA, for Edexcel, for OCR), as well as each Book Chapter, had its own customized PowerPoint of Learning Objectives and its own Plenary.
Depending on which option you choose on the CD (see above) just the PowerPoints relevant to your selected Exam Topic were displayed.
4) Diagrams
Over 150 full-colour diagrams were provided, taken from the Physics for You Students’ Book.  You could project them on-screen as part of your teaching, and even use them in your own worksheets if you wished.
5) ICT activities
A wide variety of additional ICT activities in Excel, PowerPoint and Word – for you to use in your teaching, or for your students to use in school or at home.
6) Questions and Answers
Questions and answers were provided as animated PowerPoints, and also as Word files, for you to adapt if you wish.

The latest versions of these sheets can be freely downloaded from www.physicsforyou.co.uk

7) Summaries
A PowerPoint Summary for each chapter – good for quick revision.

ISBN 0-7487-8327-X     It was distributed by Nelson Thornes, now Oxford University Press.

There were similar CD-ROMs for Chemistry for You and for Biology for You.

This shows the Main Menu, and Step 1 : the Basic Data screen, with five big buttons.

Each button leads you to an entry screen.

To enter your data you would start at the left, and work your way across to the right.

Look how straightforward it is, compared to other programs !

And the fully-illustrated printed Manual explains each step, in detail.

Subjects Screen

This is the screen for saying which Subjects you will want to timetable.

You can return here at any time to edit / alter your data.

You can give each Subject a colour – this helps during scheduling, and for the printouts.

Visual Builder Screen

This is the main screen on which you do the actual scheduling.
You can sit at this Visual Builder Screen and drag-and-drop to ‘drive’ through the timetable.

At first sight it looks very complicated.  To see what each part will do for you, please click on: www.timetabler.com/kb/UsingtheVisualBuilderScreen.pdf

Class Timetable Screen

All the buttons, and the symbols, are explained when you click on the button.

The Printout Menu

This shows you some of the possibilities for the Printouts.

Within each of these, there are millions of ways of fine-tuning the exact design of the Printouts.

They can be printed on paper, or produced as web-pages, at the click of a button.

A professional result.

The 'master' Class Printout Screen
