Hints & Tips

On many screens (eg. the List of Batches Screen, the List of Schedules Screen, the SuperBatch Screen) you can just double-click on the row to activate it (instead of clicking to highlight it, then clicking on the Load button).

If you have to enter the same Teacher-team into an activity-batch several times (eg. when using Worked Example 3) then you can:
a)  Copy the team to the Windows clip-board using  <Ctrl  C>.
ie. highlight the team with your mouse, hold down the <Ctrl> key and press the <C> key.
b)  Paste the team to where you want it, using <Ctrl  V>.

In the Print section, keep the Test Page box ticked while you design the grid & layout that you want, and while you print out a (single) test page.  This saves your time & paper.  Then, when you are satisfied, untick the box and click on Preview to re-draw the screen again before printing out all the pages.

In the Print section you will often find it best to Zoom Out (rather than scroll) to check that your page is correctly laid out.

If, during scheduling, you want to see a summary timetable for just a few teachers, you can print it out via Print->Master Staff TT->Advanced, clicking on N (None) and then picking the teachers you want from the list.

In Help->Help Topics, you can use ‘Contents’ if you have a general idea of what you are searching for.  However it is often quicker to use ‘Index’ to search for what you want.

In Help->Help on Help it explains how you can add your own notes to the HelpScreens.

Remember that you can use File->Notepad to keep notes of what you have done in a timetabling session.  The notes are automatically dated & timed for you.

Remember to use the QuickStart Guide (in Section A of the Manual).  You can download the latest version from the Support Centre.

Container Blocks (H24, H25, I9) are very useful, but do not use them unless you need to!  See the HelpMovie on this topic.

Make sure you are familiar with using the 2 Timetable Strips, on the Visual Builder Screen (or the Priority Screen, see E12, E13).

Take great care if you are using Global DayBlocking (D5) to ensure that you don't use the same ID in two different places, unless you really intend it.  To check this quickly, go to Activities->List Batches->Analyses->Global DayBlocking.
