How can I get very compact printouts?

You will need to experiment, but here are some things to consider.
However they may all affect the readability and accessibility of the printout (especially for your older readers!).

A.  On the Advanced Printing Options Screen (see Section J8)

1.  At 'Teacher Style' or at 'Line/Position', select Teacher initials (not full name).

2.  At 'Max Lengths', select the shortest reasonable lengths.
eg. Subject = 2  so that 'Maths' becomes 'Ma'.
Also, in Basic Data, use short 'Class Printing Names' if you have long 'Class Scheduling Names'.

3.  At 'Spacing', reducing the 'Gap size' may help.

4.  Consider 'Portrait' or 'Landscape' format ...the best one depends on the number of periods in your school day.

5.  In conjunction with the paper format, consider the best arrangement of the items within the cell.
For a Staff Timetable, the best arrangement is often:
rs       or       c         but see the examples in Section J13.
      c                  rs

For a Class Timetable, the best arrangement is often:
T        or       sr        but see the examples in Section J15.
      sr                  T

6.  In the section titled 'Blocks', select '1st lesson only' (instead of the default 'Show all lessons').  If you have large teacher-teams for Games but nothing else, this will give you more compact printouts by showing only one Games teacher.

B.  On the Print Setup Screen (see Section J5)

7.  At 'Font', select a thin font, like 'Arial Narrow'.

8.  At 'Font' also consider a smaller font size. Although the program (via Windows) might only offer you 8pt as the smallest size, you can type 7pt (or even smaller) into the 'Size' box ...but check if it is legible when printed.

9.  At 'Sizing', select the smallest reasonable values for 'Teacher/Class/Room width' and for 'Column width', and then adjust the 'per page' to fill the page.  Consider revisiting item A4 above to look at 'Portrait/Landscape' again.

C.  On the File Menu

10.  At File Menu -> Printer Setup, try selecting an A3 printer if you have one.
Or print it as a PDF at A3 size and then take the PDF to an A3 printer?

You may need to go through all these items more than once to get a good Printout which is both compact and readable.

D.  Other possibilities

11.  Alternatively you can Export the timetable to a spreadsheet (such as Excel) ...see another article in this KnowledgeBase for how to do this ...and then use a very small font in the spreadsheet, and/or use 'fit to page'.
